Conditions of employment


Are you aware that there are two industrial relations systems operating in some states in Australia?  

Businesses operating in Western Australia may be covered by either the state system or the federal industrial relations system.  The one which applies to your organisation depends on the type of business entity you operate under.  For example, if you are a constitutional corporate you are under the federal system.  The awards and agreements that apply to your employees are registered under the Fairwork Commission.  

Business that are not companies are likely to be under the state system and the awards and agreements that apply can be found under the WA Industrial Relations Commission (WAIRC).  

The system that applies to associations and not-for-profit organisations depends on their annual turnover.
